A stabilizer also called as a voltage stabilizer is an electrical device used to normalize the voltage during fluctuations and send steady output to the device connected to the stabilizer.
A stabilizer has the capability to convert low or heavy voltage into normal voltage. If a stabilizer receives less or greater than 240V, the mechanism within the stabilizer will normalize it to 240V and send it to the connected device.
Copper & Aluminium winded stabilizers
Stabilizers work with the coil. These coils are winded by copper or aluminium. Copper stabilizers are best in many aspects compared to aluminium winded stabilizers.
Copper stabilizers have less power loss, with stable power distribution. Compared to aluminium stabilizers, copper stabilizers are more reliable and have the upper hand in thermal conductivity.
Most copper stabilizers are expensive compared to aluminium stabilizers. Other than cost, copper stabilizers always have the upper hand in terms of price and power-saving nature.
Uses of Stabilizer
Stabilizers can be used for any home appliance to stabilise uneven power to stable power. This protects the home appliance from hazardous voltage fluctuations. Some commonly used scenarios of stabilizers are Air conditioners (AC), Refrigerators, and Televisions.
Stabilizer for AC (Air Conditioners)
On average, 3-star rated 1.5-ton AC works with 2000 watts and expects 240V of stable electricity to work. Anything above and beyond that will stop the Air conditioner from working, In some cases, an unstable voltage may damage the air conditioner itself.
A stabilizer can withstand voltage fluctuations and generate stabilize output from the stabilizer. Connecting the stabilizer to ac will protect ac from the uneven power supply.
Compared to TV and Refrigerator, the wattage and load of the AC are much higher. So, to withstand fluctuations and keep your AC running, Stabilizers are categorized as Single boosters, double boosters and triple boosters.
Single booster is for normal stabilizers it has a limited working range. whereas double booster stabilizers work in a decent working range. Triple booster stabilizers work with utmost capacity and their working range is wide enough to handle any fluctuations.
Stabilizer for Fridge (Refrigerator)
A refrigerator is one such electronic device which works continuously 24×7. Such devices are more vulnerable towards voltage fluctuations. It’s suggested to use a stabilizer for the refrigerator. Also, refrigerator stabilizers are cheaper compared to any other stabilizers.

Refrigerator stabilizers are standard and work specifically for refrigerators. It’s always preferred to have a stabilizer with a time delay system for refrigerators.
Few refrigerators come with inbuilt stabilizers, which can take care of voltage fluctuations. in such instances, it’s okay to operate the refrigerator without a stabilizer.
Stabilizer for TV (Television)
TVs are also frequently used home appliances, which need protection from voltage fluctuations. The latest TVs come with SMPS technology, that can protect devices from voltage fluctuations up to some extent.
Not all TVs come with SMPS technology. In such cases, it’s recommended to use a stabilizer. Also, if there is frequent fluctuation, it’s recommended to use a stabilizer than depending on built-in technology.
